Bottled Water Laws Elsewhere

Bottled Water Laws in Massachusetts

In 2012, Jean Hill and Jill Appel led Concord to become the first town in the nation to restrict the sale of single-serve water bottles. They supplemented the ban with an extensive education effort, including a "tap map" identifying where residents and visitors might refill their reusable water bottles.  Following San Francisco's model, Brookline enacted a bylaw that disallows the sale of bottled water on municipal property, while allowing it elsewhere.
